John Kinsel Sr.

This Web Story features John Kinsel Sr., who served as a Navajo code talker in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He served in Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Guam, and Bougainville Island as a member of the 3rd Marine Division. He received a Purple Heart for a leg wound sustained at Iwo Jima in 1989 and a Congressional Silver Medal for his service as a Navajo code talker. We honor his service.
