Vteran of the Day presentation: Centra Mazyck

Centra “Cece” Mazyck

This Web Story features Centra “Cece” Mazyck, a Sergeant First Class in the Army. Soon after starting college in Georgia in 1997, Mazyck joined the Army Reserve, transitioning to active duty three years later with the 82nd Airborne Division. She became paralyzed from the waist down after a jumping accident. After being released from vigorous rehabilitation in 2004, she competed in the first National Veterans Wheelchair Games a year later. She has gone on to compete in the javelin competition at the 2012 Paralympic Games and win a bronze medal at the IPC Athletics World Championships in France. We honor her service.

All Web Stories have been adapted from the Veteran of the Day posts at the official blog of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VAntage Point.
